Independence Day!!

A very happy Independence day to all!!!

As we celebreate independence day every year, do we ever question ourself as are we really free?  No matter we live in a free country but are we really free from our internal shackles?

When i watch the situation in few countries where women are still treated very badly, I feel blessed and fortunate to be born in an independent nation where women are treated Independent and not as slaves. But having freedom and feeling free are not the same. Sometimes, age-old traditions bind us and we stick to them, sometimes for our own personal gain and sometimes because we are too scared to break them or question them and sometimes as we do not want to step out of our comfort zones as we become accoustomed to the same style of living, same thoughts and sometimes we wanna play very safe.

When i think about myself i read same type of books, i listen to same genre of music and i dont wanna change as i think i may not like it. Worst thing is people around me have started saying Preeti you love only romantic books and you wont like what i am currently reading. Many a times my near and dear ones tell me that its not your type of music . Your taste is old classics . The thing is i am bounded to the similar types. And need of the hour is free myself of the routines which i dont like to change..

I think to be truely free, we have to open our minds and hearts to new experiences. True freedom is to attempt the unconditional, and feel happy about attempting what you feel tou cannot.

We often mistake that independence is something that must be granted to us, but in reality it is something that lies deep within us.

So this independence day, cut away everything that binds you to enter a free, happy space. If you want it , you will find it..

This is just one facet of being really independent or not there are many facets even..

A happy independence day again- desire to be independent..

Preeti
